A Southern Classic

Few rabbiteye blueberries have influenced Southern blueberry production as much as Tifblue.

Released by the University of Georgia in the mid-20th century, Tifblue quickly became one of the most widely planted rabbiteye blueberries in the Southeast. Decades later, it remains a favorite among home gardeners and commercial growers alike because of its reliability, adaptability, and ability to produce consistently year after year.

In a world where new cultivars are constantly being introduced, Tifblue remains a reminder that proven performance still matters.

For Chesed Ranch, Tifblue represents the dependable heart of the late-season blueberry harvest.

Why We Chose Tifblue

One of the primary goals of the Chesed Ranch berry patch is to extend the harvest season as long as possible.

While Austin and Brightwell provide berries earlier in the season, Tifblue helps carry production well into summer. Its later ripening period fills an important gap and helps ensure that fresh blueberries remain available long after the earliest varieties have finished producing.

Tifblue was also selected because of its long history of success throughout the Southeast. When a variety remains popular for generations, there is usually a good reason.
