Ruby Red Grapefruit
This one should definitely lean into the family aspect. Unlike the lime and lemon, which are ingredients, the grapefruit is something everyone looks forward to eating fresh.

Worth Replanting
The Ruby Red Grapefruit was one of the easiest decisions made during the orchard rebuilding process.
Long before the orchard expansion of 2026, grapefruit had already earned a permanent place on the family’s list of favorite fruits. Sweet, juicy, and refreshing, it became a staple winter harvest that everyone looked forward to.
In particular, both of our daughters-in-law absolutely love grapefruit, making this one of the most requested citrus trees in the orchard.
When it came time to rebuild after the winter of 2025–2026, there was never any question whether grapefruit would return. The only question was how soon we could get another one planted.
A Fresh Start
Like the rest of the citrus program, the Ruby Red Grapefruit represents a new beginning for the orchard.
The historic freeze of 2025–2026 claimed every mature citrus tree on the property, including trees that had been producing fruit for years. While the loss was significant, it also provided an opportunity to re-establish the orchard with a renewed focus on documenting growth, production, and long-term performance.
This Ruby Red Grapefruit is part of that next chapter.

Why We Chose Ruby Red
Some fruit trees earn their place through research and evaluation.
Others earn their place because everyone enjoys the fruit.
Ruby Red Grapefruit falls firmly into the second category.
Its sweet flavor, attractive red flesh, and dependable production have made it one of the most popular grapefruit varieties grown in Florida. The fruit is excellent eaten fresh, juiced, or shared with family and friends during the winter harvest season.
Most importantly, it is a fruit that people in our family genuinely look forward to every year.
