The Mango That Changed Our Minds

Before planting our orchard, mangoes were never high on our list of favorite fruits. We enjoyed them occasionally, but they were never something we sought out.

That changed after tasting a properly ripened Carrie Mango.

Unlike the firm, mild-flavored mangoes commonly found in grocery stores, Carrie delivers an intense tropical flavor that is difficult to describe until you’ve experienced it yourself. Rich, sweet, aromatic, and incredibly juicy, it quickly became one of the most memorable fruits we had ever tasted.

After researching mango varieties suitable for North Florida and speaking with growers who were passionate about the fruit, Carrie consistently appeared on nearly every “must-grow” list. While there are larger mangoes and prettier mangoes, few varieties have developed the reputation for flavor that Carrie has earned.

For that reason alone, Carrie deserved a place at Chesed Ranch.

Why We Chose Carrie

Carrie was selected primarily for fruit quality.

Many growers consider Carrie one of the finest tasting mangoes available, often ranking it above larger commercial varieties. The tree’s naturally compact growth habit also makes it well-suited for long-term management within a diversified orchard.

Because our location sits near the northern edge of reliable mango production, selecting cultivars known to perform well in Florida conditions was especially important.

Carrie checked every box.
